Teacher's Notes

Task: Cloze activity: a multiple choice quiz on the story.
Support: This is a straightforward activity. It could also be undertaken orally, in groups, or in a TV quiz show format.If appropriate, recap the main events of the story before the students attempt the worksheet.
Extension: The students could devise their own quiz, based on another reading book in the Spook Squad series.

Task: To complete an animal word search.
Support: Most students will be familiar with how word searches work. It may be easier to use a highlighter pen for the task, as the letters will then show through.
The following words can be found in the search: RAT, BAT, LOBSTER, RABBIT, RACOON, NEWT, TIGER, BADGER, GOOSE, EEL, ANTEATER, OSTRICH, CAMEL, BEAR, SWAN, SNAKE, DOG, PIG, DONKEY, MONKEY, APE, MOLE.
Extension: In this Spook Squad story, the shape-shifter uses his power to do evil. Ask the students to write a short story where a shape-shifter uses its powers to do good.
