How to find us

Ransom is based in a beautiful corner of the South of England, in the Hampshire countryside close to the village of West Meon. We are rather remote, but there are a few ways that you can get to us. The nearest railway station is Petersfield, where you can catch a bus to West Meon. The office is a five-minute walk from the bus stop. You can also catch a bus from Winchester to West Meon. But the easiest way (as is often the case in the countryside) is by car. We are twenty minutes' drive from the M3/Winchester.

Where can you see Ransom books

We have a schools showroom at our office address, above, where you can see our books. We also release a catalogue of Ransom books every year, which is available to download from our website. We'd be happy to send you a printed copy if you prefer - just let us know!

For UK schools, we can arrange for a schools consultant to visit your school. They have a good range of Ransom titles for you to look at. Please email ransom@ransom.co.uk with your name and school details and we will contact you.

Ordering from Ransom

You can place an order directly via this website. Alternatively, you can place an order over the phone, by fax or by post.

Ransom books can also be purchased directly from your local bookstore. If the title you want is not in stock, they can order it for you. You can also buy our titles from online booksellers and educational suppliers.

School Literacy Consultants

If you're looking for advice on which books are right for your school, your local school sales consultant from Ransom would be happy to help. Our sales consultants have in depth knowledge of how our books can help with all stages of reading, including early years, reluctant readers and SEN.

Contacting Ransom Authors and Illustrators

If you would like to get in contact with a Ransom author or illustrator, please write to our Editorial department (address above) or email us. We will be happy to pass your message on. (Incidentally, you can find out more about our authors here.)

Writing for Ransom

We are NOT currently commissioning and are therefore NOT able to accept or reply to unsolicited submissions. We are currently focusing on developing our very successful reading programme, with titles for all ages including our reluctant readers. Aside from this, we are only able to focus on the development of a few key series, such as Tales from the Pitch and Fergus. Should this change, we will change this notice and put up some guidelines. We are really sorry but we cannot stress enough that, at present, we cannot reply to any unsolicited submissions.

Writers with experience of writing phonics readers who would like to be included in our list of potential writers for Reading Stars, should email jenny@ransom.co.uk. We will then be in touch when we are developing new titles in the reading programme. Again, we have to stress that writing for the reading programme does require experience and knowledge of the educational requirements, specifically phonics. And books are commissioned to be written to a very strict criteria.
