Lilac Band readers
We offer 17 fiction and non-fiction titles at Reading Stars Phonics Phase 1 that are also perfect as book-banded readers, at Lilac Band – the band below Pink. These wordless books build vocabulary, develop speaking and listening skills, and teach children how books/stories work.
Teaching Resources
A detailed lesson plan for each reading book to help teachers deliver structured literacy lessons, and photocopiable worksheets containing follow-up activities.
Assessment Resources
Photocopiable checklists that give a summary of what a child should be able to do when working at each band and provide a useful record of each child’s reading progress, and running reading records for every book, along with instructions on how to use them.
Catch Up book band readers
Book band readers to develop literacy skills in 9 to 14 year-olds who are still learning the basics. These invaluable books offer stories, topics and illustrations that appeal to older readers, who would otherwise be patronised – and ‘switched off’ – by younger-looking books.
