Author Profile - Anne Cassidy

Author of: Witness (Shades 2.0 series).

Anne Cassidy was born in 1952 and has lived in London for most of her life. She left school at 16 and was a bank clerk. Then she went back to college to learn all the things she’d missed in school and became a teacher.

In 1989 she started writing books for teenagers. Her first book, Big Girls’ Shoes was published in 1991 and since then she has published over forty books, thirty of which have been teen novels. She wrote a series of crime novels called The East End Murders and many stand-alone murder mystery novels. She loves to write thrillers and is best known for her book Looking for JJ which was short listed for the Whitbread Award 2004 and the Carnegie Medal 2005. She has one son and currently lives in Essex. Her recent books are The Murder Notebooks (Bloomsbury) and Finding Jennifer Jones (HotKey).

Anne loves to write a story with a mystery at its heart. Crime stories are perfect for this. She likes to imagine a teenager put into a situation of danger. The question, What Happens Next? is very important for a reader.
