49 colourful books to reinforce children’s knowledge of the 26 letters and sounds of the alphabet, plus the additional 23 two- and three-letter graphemes taught up to the end of Letters and Sounds Phase 3.
How can Alpha Stars help you?
Alpha Stars is an ideal resource for using alongside Ransom's Reading Stars Phonics, or to support any phonics teaching programme.
These colourful books can be used:
to teach children to hear the letter in the spoken word and to see the letter in the written word, reinforcing their knowledge of the letters and sounds.
to introduce the letter names, once children have learnt their letter sounds. (For those using Reading Stars Phonics, following Letters and Sounds, this will be during, or at the end of, Phase Three.)
to teach children how to write each letter in its lower case form.
Take a closer look inside a book…
Every Alpha Stars book includes eight illustrations, each labelled with a word using the letter/grapheme in question.
A final illustration is unlabelled, for the child to guess the word, and a final page shows the child how the letter in question is written.
